FAQ
-
Why is this required?
Per IECC 2018 105.1: Construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the code official or his or her designated agent, and such construction or work shall remain visible and able to be accessed for inspection purposes until approved. Senate Bill 5 was also adopted in 2001 and required all houses be compliant with the adopted IECC code.

Why is the pricing this way?
Pricing is set to help cover our costs for travel, equipment, certifications, and training. Also, depending on the size of the home, it takes longer to inspect or run reports. If you want quotes for whole home options, please contact us.

What do I need to give to the city?
It depends on the city. Most cities just need the energy report from either ResCheck or IC3. Others need a compliance path in addition to the energy report and Dallas has special requirements. We will provide everything needed per city.

How quickly can I get an inspection?
Calling as soon as you know you need an inspection is best. We can always schedule you in advance. We can be on site for inspections within 48 hours. Larger jobs or duct testing require more people so call and schedule 1 week in advance.

How do I know what services I need?
We have worked with most cities in the metroplex and have a database on what each city needs. We will ask questions to ensure that all services are covered for the cities needs.

Is testing required?
Testing is required from 2015 IECC and newer. The State of Texas has adopted this code and all cities are required to adopt this or newer. Currently, any new or remodeled house with batt insulation will require duct testing and blower door testing and a foam house will require blower door testing. If the city is on 2021 IECC, you will need to have duct and blower door testing.
